![]() While Avernum 1-3 are oldschool, I think they are excellent games so I'd advise you to just start with those. So you could potentially just start with Escape From The Pit, but if you do that you'll find that Avernum 2 and 3 look much older by comparison. ![]() So yes, Escapte From The Pit is a modern remake of Avernum 1, using an engine similar to (identical to?) Avernum 4-6. So far, only the remake of Avernum 1 has been released, and it's called Avernum: Escape From The Pit. Now, the Avernum 1-3 are getting old, and it can be tough to run them on newer machines (especially newer Macs), so Spiderweb is remaking Avernum 1-3. Then, the story continued with Avernum 4-6, which were brand new games. I generally don't bother with this one because I've yet to actually edit the individual sprite tilesets (1650.BMP to 1665.BMP, for A3 humans).The Exile games were the first ones. I normally just take a faceshot from the paperdoll image and paste it at the corresponding character location.Ī3 horseback sprites are also in one file, 1680.BMP, with a tiny version 1681.BMP. ![]() Each character is allocated a 44 x 47 space, no transparencies to bother with. I was kinda lucky the art I grabbed mostly had all the characters on plain white backgrounds. As you can see in the image in my first post, Kodama's white hair is transparent in parts. What I did for my images was to simply resize them to what the game required and saving as. Nice! I suppose the layer manipulation steps take care of the game turning parts of the character transparent which you don't want it to?
